The small country of Costa Rica is a friendly and peaceful place. Without an army since 1949, its people are extremely educated and inviting, which probably explains why the country is ranked one of the most-visited international tourist destinations. The other reason is its extremely pleasant climate, which comes from the green mountain rainforests to the gorgeous beaches on both the Atlantic and Pacific coasts.
Another big draw for Costa Rica is its flora and fauna. About 6% of the existing biodiversity of the entire world is found in Costa Rica, and with that, the country protects more than 25% of its territory by law, making for a lot of visits to beautifully preserved national parks.
Located south of Nicaragua and North of Panama, Costa Rica is the size of the state of West Virginia. The capital of the country is San Jose. Surrounding San Jose in the central valley of the country, are some of the world’s most popular coffee, grown in the mountains.
